The 2025 Ox-Bow Summer Artist-in-Residence Program

Ends on

Ox-Bow’s fully-funded Summer Artist-in-Residence Program offers 12 artists the time, space, and community to encourage growth and experimentation in their practice for three weeks on campus. The Summer Residencies are held while our core classes and community programs are in session. During this time, a small group of residents have access to Ox-Bow’s artist community of students, faculty, and visiting artists.

This residency is ideal for visual artists who can creatively sustain in a small studio with table, chair, access to a sink, and less than reliable wifi. Residents are required to bring their own materials and tools. Any artist who would require a media facility, including the ceramics, metals, printmaking, or glass studio may not be a good fit for this program as the classroom studios are prioritized for students enrolled in classes. Residents cannot expect reliable access to any of our classroom studios.

Our Summer Residencies are open to artists at any level. Currently enrolled students, MFA candidates, arts faculty, emerging, or established artists are encouraged to apply. There are generally three residents on campus at a time. The dates available are;

  • June 1–21
  • June 22–July 12
  • July 21–August 9
  • August 10–30

Residency Recipients receive:

  • Private Studio (raw studio space; classroom studios not available)
  • Private room (shared bathrooms and showers)
  • 3 meals a day
  • A studio visit from the visiting artist each week they are at Ox-Bow
  • Access to evening artist lectures
  • Opportunities to share work through slide presentations, readings, etc.
  • The opportunity to audit one Art on the Meadow workshop (our Saturday 3-hour, outdoor, craft workshops. This is not the same as the 1- and 2-week workshops hosted in the studios.)

The Visiting Artist Program at Ox-Bow is designed with the residents in mind. As a resident, you will receive a studio visit with a new visiting artist each week. For this reason, writers and non-visual artists are encouraged to consider the impact these artists may have on their Ox-Bow experience and practice to ensure this opportunity is right for them. In 2025 the Summer Visiting Artist Program includes;

  • Tammie Rubin
  • Cathy Lu
  • Natalia Arbalaez
  • Edie Fake
  • Patricia Peco
  • Santiago Galeas
  • Macon Reed
  • Lisa Williamson
  • Reginald Pointer
  • Emma Safir
